CareTalk! – A workshop for all those involved in the care relationship as informal family caregiver, or care-receiver or as a professional service provider/caregiver.

At a jointly hosted care families meet (Pune 2013)

A care relationship is often an extension of existing relationships – between parents and children, siblings, husband-wife-partner, in-laws, grandparents/children, friend-friend, doctor-patient, therapist-client – but with additional commitments as needed for caring.

As in every such relationship, understanding, communication and affection are at the heart of it all. We know this, and yet in all relationships there are gaps where the people involved often wish they could speak, be heard, explain, understand – have a better relationship! These gaps become even wider when there are relationship complications, such as those caused by illness or a challenge to ability.

When a person feels more vulnerable than another.
When a person feels guilty and helpless.
When a person cannot understand or express their thoughts and feelings.

When this happens – we need to talk.

At the Care Talk! workshop we return to the basics where in a safe, anonymous way, care-receivers and caregivers can express the things they wish their families and friends, therapists, clients or service providers would understand, or do differently. At the end of two hours the desired outcome is that each participant has a new takeaway:-
Understood a part of another perspective
Explained a part of their own perspective
Talked their way to strengthen a relationship
The workshop processes will be guided by core team members of Caregivers Link, Shikha Aleya and Devashri Mukherjee, who have earlier facilitated individual and group work for social interventions and for caregivers, both online and in-the-room.
The Care Talk! Workshop at Pune will be facilitated by Caregivers Link on the 4th of December 2013, (post lunch session).
