Nightingales Medical Trust is a non-profit based in Bangalore working on issues of aging, elder care and alzheimer’s and dementia. NMT has been working since 1996 in the field of elder care. They have a helpline service for elders from 8am to 7pm all days of the week, a joint venture of Bangalore police and NMT. The helpline receives an average of 40 calls a day. NMT also conducts certificate courses in geriatric care. The NMT website gives detailed information on all their programs and interventions.

Helpage India, Delhi based, was set up in 1978 and focusses on elder care awareness (in rural and urban areas), advocacy and the rights of the aged. They support other organisations working in the field of elder care and are moving into the area of integrated age care services, including old age homes, age care facilities, counselling, therapy, healthcare. The Dignity Foundation based in Mumbai was founded by Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan and is an umbrella organisation focussing on multiple programs and advocating for policy level changes to benefit senior citizens. The foundation’s activities include employment intervention, a helpline, counselling for legal, financial and consumer related issues, dementia care and a mobile outreach unit among other initiatives.
