Pallium India works in the field of pain relief and palliative care. The Trivandrum Institute of Palliative Sciences (TIPS) is a demonstration project with clinical care services and educational courses in pain and palliative medicine. They have an Education in Palliative and End of Life Care in India(EPEC-India) project that has been under development and is currently increasing its scope of activities. Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) – This is the National Organisation for Palliative Care in India and it was formed in 1994 in consultation with WHO and the Government of India to work in the area of the care of people with chronic and life limiting illnesses. IAPC has palliative care centres across the country, conducts courses and trainings and undertakes advocacy and studies in palliative care.

The Pain and Palliative Care Society, based in Calicut, Kerala, was set up in 1993 and has palliative care centres across the country. The work of the organisation is centred around enhancing the quality of life and providing care services to patients at end stage and terminal / life limiting illnesses.

The PPCS has home care and rehabilitation programs and has also set up the Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) in Calicut which has an inpatient and outpatient facility as well as a training centre which offers training for doctors, paramedical staff as well as caregivers and volunteers.

PPCS has begun an innovative community based program called Neighbourhood Network in Palliative Care, in collaboration with local organisations and the government. NNPC aims to create a community model of palliative care that uses a base of trained volunteers and medical professionals to cover all districts of Kerala.
