Mumbai

Maitri works in Mumbai with family members/caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. They do individual one-on-one counselling with patients, family members and caregivers and also have support group meetings for family members twice a month. The Vandrevala Foundation – In 2009 they launched “The Mental Health Initiative – India” as a part of which they run a 24×7 crisis intervention helpline for patients, families and others dealing with mental health issues. They also have a 24×7 face-to-face counselling service.

Pune

The Schizophrenia Awareness Association in Pune has many programs that focus on the needs of caregivers and care receivers in the field of schizophrenia and other mental disorders. At their centre in Dhayari, Self Help Support Groups (SHSGs) of persons with schizophrenia and other mental disorders and SHSGs of their family caregivers meet, interact, engage in therapeutic, vocational, and recreational pursuits, attend knowledge and awareness events, air their views and share their problems, thoughts, feelings and perceptions.
